INTRODUCTION:
R. Michael Hackley is president of Michael Hackley Architects PC, a full service architectural and commercial interior design firm located in Columbia, Maryland. In business for 28 years, R. Michael Hackley has specialized in retail store design with recent projects at Columbia Mall that include Edward Arthur Jewelers, Aromi d’ Italia restaurant, April Cornell, Great Wraps restaurant, Sweet Treat restaurant, Natural Nails Salon, and Great Earth Vitamins.
Other commercial office interior design projects include law firms, medical office suites, the corporate headquarters for the Kennedy Family in New York City, and Special Olympics International headquarters in Washington, DC. In addition, R. Michael Hackley has provided facility management design/drawings for the Rouse Company and retail store design for tenants at Columbia Mall, Harborplace in Baltimore, as well as White Marsh Mall and Owings Mills Mall in Baltimore County.
R. Michael Hackley is also a retired volunteer fire fighter and EMT in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Combining this experience with his architectural skills, Michael has worked with volunteer and career fire departments on the design and construction of ten new fire stations in Maryland and Delaware. Currently, in a joint venture with another architectural firm in Annapolis, Maryland, R. Michael Hackley is designing four new emergency services facilities: Takoma Park Fire Station and Germantown Fire Station in Montgomery County , Brooklyn Fire Station and Severn Fire Station in Anne Arundel County.
